The FloBLE is an NFC Reader that connects to mobile devices via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). It’s aimed at the broadest market that wants to deliver “Disney Experiences”. In other words, applications that leverage mobile devices for use as mPOS terminals, kiosks, digital signage installations, access control equipment, etc. The FloBLE is unique in that it is very low power and wireless, allowing for diverse deployment options without worrying about recharging it every day.
Designed with developers in mind, our devices are simple to integrate with mobile apps running on iOS (Android, WindowsPhone, Blackberry, etc available on request). In less than 10 lines of code, a mobile app developer can integrate with the Flomio SDK to read and write an NFC tag. For technical support on integrating the FloBLE with your app please check the forum. Variants of the FloBLE devices available include the Noir, the Plus, and the Mini.
The FloBLE Plus is our most powerful reader meant to read tags of all geometries. This reader design includes a buzzer to know once you’ve detected a tag and has 2 prominently placed LEDs to help with usage.
All FloBLE devices have a Bluetooth connection range of approximately 50ft and include a push button to wake the device from sleep in order to preserve battery power. Both Noir and Plus devices are rechargeable whereas the Mini operates on replaceable coin cell batteries.
The FloBLE and the ACR1255U-J1 are hardware equals. However, only FloBLE Plus will work with the Flomio SDK and derived applications. The Flomio SDK is available in two (2) versions: Basic and Pro. The Basic version (included) checks online for valid usage license on every scan. The Pro version (upgrade here) works completely offline for unlimited use. A special SDK library will be provided so Pro customers can create their apps for offline use.

Easy to connect and includes a nice battery save mode as well as audible beeps when tags are scanned. Read my NFC cards well and is small enough to carry around.

This product provides the NFC functionality much like any other product in the market. The thing that gives Flomio a huge advantage over it’s competitors is the prompt help and support provided by the Flomio team. I have been using this product for quite some time now and since the SDK is ever evolving, I have faced certain issues. A huge thanks to Flomio team who not only helped me solve those issue but also helped me understand how everything works. Here’s a link to one of my queries put forth to the Flomio team. Have a look to get an idea of the type of support they provide.

Hardware seems good. The SDK could be tuned a bit. My team was having issues with some connectivity strangeness, probably due to trying to connect to licensing servers. It would be great if there was a way to try the higher level license to see if it would work better before committing to the cost. Service from the team seems responsive. Still waiting for our big deploy to see how it goes in the field.
