It’s the mighty FloJack. The one you read about. That jolly disruptive lolli-pop-tech-culture IT gadget, that brings the power of NFC to iPhones, iPads and iPod touches, courtesy of Flomio. This accessory lets you read and write NFC tags, something even the iPhone6 cannot do. As if that wasn’t enough it can also swipe magnetic stripe cards.
With a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery and standard 3.5mm audio jack interface, the FloJack can seamlessly extend the usefulness of any mobile device running iOS or Android. It delivers NFC reader functionality and mobility, which allows you to read contactless applications from mobile devices without built-in NFC support.
- Offers full NFC Forum support of ISO14443 protocols with NXP’s PN512 chipset
- Max throughput 512 baud (64 bytes/sec) due to audio jack limitation.
- 50mins to fully charge and 5.25hrs (6,345 NFC scans) to discharge.
- Encrypted MSR and chip card reader with DUKPT key management
- Proven compatibility with these phone models. Check for yours!
It’s the Magical Mystery NFC band-aid. The NFC Party hopper, show stopper, take it to the hole, run back, authoritative shot blocker. The FloJack is built with mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) in mind offering AES-128 encryption to secure every transaction. The FloJack and the ACR35 are hardware equals. However, only FloJacks will work with the Flomio SDK and derived applications. The Flomio SDK is available in two (2) versions: Basic and Pro. The Basic version (included) checks online for valid usage license on every scan. The Pro version (upgrade here) works completely offline for unlimited use. A special SDK library will be provided so Pro customers can create their apps for offline use.

This reader worked reliably for me despite my concerns with the audio jack interface. I like that it tethers to the phone so I can carry it around as one unit. The Flomio SDK was easy enough to integrate with on iOS. Notifications and scan sound were included out of the box which was nice.
