Any news on the shipping time of this order (#43500)? Is the estimate still April 1?
We would like to order two additional antennas, to be able to split the patch into multiple antennas, as shown in this video: https://youtu.be/_3BbIDk8opk
Should we make a new order or is it possible to extend our current one? We do not want to risk delaying the shipment of our current order any further.
Regards,
DanielMarch 26, 2015 at 6:28 pm #50936Hi Daniel, your order for the NFC Patch Kit and Antenna is still processing. Our factory is currently working on the next production run of our newest version of this product which vastly improves overall quality and install experience. Current delivery estimate for this batch is April 20th to our office. We will ship them immediately to customers at that point.
The multiple antenna rig shown in the video was custom made and not a turn-key feature of the NFC Patch Kit. That said, if you order extra antennas to build a similar solution for yourself, we can instruct you on how to put it together.
It’s best to create a new order for additional items since our web store and fulfillment system doesn’t work well with modifying orders. To save on shipping though, you can request in the new order comments section to ship it with a previous order number. This of course only applies if the previous order is still in “processing” state, which yours happens to be.
March 31, 2015 at 6:57 am #51696I´m a colleague of Daniels and I have a follow up question. In an other post on the forum you mentioned and alternative manufacturing process of using a prototyping workshop to speed up the delivery of the antennas.
Is that a viable option in this case?
March 31, 2015 at 9:32 am #51713Hi Tomas, the prototyping workshop is a viable option for some customers but it’s much more expensive. For instance, we just completed a rush order of 40 NFC Patch Kits through the workshop and it came out to roughly $130/kit (shipping not included). We quote these on a case by case basis so lower quantities would carry even higher cost per kit.
March 31, 2015 at 9:50 am #51715What would the quote be for making 1 or 3 antennas this way then?
March 31, 2015 at 9:59 am #51717We some parts left over from a previous workshop order so could probably get you 1 for $130. If you need more then we will need to do another proto run. There’s a minimum job size of $1000 so each would cost roughly $330 for 3.
March 31, 2015 at 12:38 pm #51730Then lets go ahead and produce the single one. Whats the estimated lead time before you guys can send it?
And are there any international express delivery options available?
March 31, 2015 at 1:42 pm #51735It will take two days for the proto unit to arrive at our office. Then we can ship it to you via USPS Priority International for $30 (ETA 6-10 days) or FedEx International Priority for $115 (ETA 3-5 days). The shipping times can vary depending on customs clearance. To proceed just send the amount $130 plus the shipping rate of choice to info@flomio.com via PayPal and reference this thread.
March 31, 2015 at 1:49 pm #51737OK. So just to be clear. We should cancel the current order and get a refund for that?
And for this new order we pay the full new total of 130+shipping through PayPal?
March 31, 2015 at 2:11 pm #51739Sure, that works. What’s your current order number?
March 31, 2015 at 2:31 pm #51742Our current order number is 43500. We will go for the FedEx international priority shipping. We will transfer the remaining amount first thing tomorrow Swedish time, i.e. about in 12 hours.
March 31, 2015 at 2:58 pm #51751Daniel, I’ve canceled order 43500 and issued the refund. Make the payment of the amount requested and we will ship out the unit once it arrives in our office. Keep in mind the the NFC Patch Kit is designed for the Nexus 7 v2 (2013) and not for the Sony Xperia Z2 tablet. Here are some pictures of the new units:
April 1, 2015 at 3:01 am #51808Richard, money has now been transferred. We are aware that the Patch Kit is designed for Nexus 7, but according to customer support it has not been verified to not work with the Xperia. So, we are taking a chance and hope for the best. If you happen to know for sure that it will not work with the Xperia, please let us know!
Will you include the actual patch + the two different antenna sizes as in the original order in the new order?
April 10, 2015 at 5:29 am #52609Hi Daniel, your order has shipped. FedEx Tracking number: 773337564760
I was only able to send the 56mm X 64mm Patch and 32mm Antenna since that’s all we had in stock (your took our demo unit). I can send you the extra Antenna from your order once we get more products in stock.
thanks,
RichardApril 10, 2015 at 5:33 am #52610Great! Looks like it might reach us in time for our user test then.
thanks
April 14, 2015 at 10:42 am #52632Richard, I talked to FedEx now and apparently our package is now in Sweden but stuck in customs. You have not included a commercial invoice. Please send the necessary document to FedEx so the package can get through ASAP!
thanks,
DanielApril 14, 2015 at 11:38 am #52633Hi Daniel, I’m trying to get a hold of FedEx to give them the commercial invoice but in case you’re able to touch base with them before us, here it is.
April 14, 2015 at 11:52 am #52634Alright, Richard, I’ll try to get hold of FedEx as well.
April 14, 2015 at 11:56 am #52635Got a hold of them. Sent in the missing invoice. Apologies for this issue, we’re still getting our hands around integrating FedEx into our fulfillment process.
April 16, 2015 at 9:33 am #52651We just received the patch kit and I can now unfortunately confirm that it works very poorly with the Sony Xperia Z2 tablet. It will read the tags if positioning is absolutely correct, but the performance is much worse than reading directly on the device.
We have also tried it with a Google Nexus 10 which seems to be even worse. In fact, we have not been able to get it to read the tag a single time. Has anybody else had any success with the Google Nexus 10? Maybe we are doing something wrong?
Daniel
April 16, 2015 at 9:47 am #52655Started a new thread where people can contribute their experiences with different devices: https://flomio.com/forums/topic/nfc-patch-kit-supported-devices/
April 16, 2015 at 12:49 pm #52657The Nexus 10 has a really weird antenna design so the 56mm x 64mm patch won’t work with it. I’m not sure what the Sony Xperia Z2 tablet design looks like. We would have to get a hold of a sample tablet to take it apart and study the internal NFC antenna. I found a teardown video online and from the looks of it, the NFC antenna is quite small. This would explain the pour matching with the NFC Patch Kit:
(Note: The narrator calls it “NCF Antenna” by mistake.)
You may be interested in reading this thread to understand how the NFC Patch Kit for Nexus 7 was designed.
April 17, 2015 at 8:50 am #52664Thanks, that’t interesting.
