Starting a thread where people can post their experiences of the NFC Patch Kit with different devices. The Patch Kit is designed for the Nexus 7, but it might work with other devices as well.

April 16, 2015 at 12:33 pm #52656Hi Daniel, our NFC Patch Kit design is specifically meant for the Google Nexus 7 (v1 and v2) tablet and 35mm NFC inlays. The product needs to be retuned for other other devices to work with it. This is because every different NFC device has a unique antenna design and dimension. Without good matching between the antenna and the patch or the antenna extension and the inlay, you won’t get a good tag read.
That said, we can do custom patch and antenna designs for customers. Per unit pricing depends directly on volumes ordered since custom prototyping is an expensive process. For a batch of 50 custom designed NFC Patch Kits, pricing is roughly $6500 and takes 2-3 weeks to deliver.
We used to sell a Patch for the Google Nexus 10 but the volumes weren’t there so we didn’t re-up on that stock. If people on this thread vote up that product variety, we can resurrect it.
April 17, 2015 at 8:38 am #52663Hi Richard,
I’m well aware that your NFC Patch Kit is designed for the Google Nexus 7 (which I also wrote in the first message in this thread). However, it has been said in multiple places that it might work with other devices as well, but no more details than that. This is information that would have been valuable to us when we were looking to buy your product. I have also asked you and customer support to inform us if you knew for sure that it wouldn’t work with our Sony device, but nobody could confirm nor deny this.
My intension with this thread is hence to help you and fellow buyers, i.e. your customers, to make an informed decision regarding the two devices we have tried out.
Daniel
