I was under the impression IOS 13 would include native/background tag reading for iPhones when presented with NDEF formatted NFC tags.

I have the iPhone XR on the IOS 13 update and still cannot get anything to work.

I’ve made sure my chips are NTAG 213/216 and NDEF formatted with the correct URI records but it still will not read in the background.

Has anyone had any luck with getting this to work correctly?

Does anyone have any information or help as to why this would not work for my phone?

I’m very lost and would love some help.
