Your website lists a cost of 0.5 $/cm3 plus a $4 handling fee plus the cost of the tag itself. But the price for Dorus the dragon at 6cm3 is $112. Why is it so expensive? How can we determine the exact price for a specific model?
Is anyone at Flomio looking into this? The question has been asked a week ago (and my order of a 3D printed tag was supposed to ship last week).
Thanks!
Hi Razvan, sorry for the late reply. The pricing for the 3D printables was based off the introductory pricing on Shapeways. Because of the proliferation of 3D printers, these prices are falling and we’re adjusting our pricing structure as needed. Our current parameters on computing the price of a print depend on the following:
We use the Skeinforge tool with these settings (Analyze-Statistic->Cost) to calculate the cost of a print and add $4.50 per item to embed the NFC tag into it. The NFC tag cost and shipping are added after.
Because of the complex shapes and size orders we’ve received, our published pricing is somewhat inaccurate. Some designs are very compact making for fast print times yet a lot of material used. On the flipship, other designs that are sparse using little material but take hours to print. The best way to get an accurate price estimate is to use Skeinforge.
Hope this helped,
