Hello,
I’m having problems with the Firmware tool for the ACR 1225u-J1.
I have followed the “ACR1255U-J1 Firmware Upgrade Instruction V1.02″ PDF” and did not get any errors until step 17 where it asks to download the .hex
One thing I noticed that was not like the instructions was that I did not have to switch the driver from the ACR one to the “Microsoft Usbccid Smartcard Reader (WUDF)”
thank you in advanced for assistance,
-Onan
Are you using a Window 7 or XP machine? That’s a requirement for the Firmware upgrade tool to work. You can use VMware or VirtualBox to install if you don’t have a machine with that OS handy.
best,
Richard
Correct. Two separate machines both using Windows 7.

Hmm, not sure what the issue could be. You could have a defective unit. This is unlikely but possible. What firmware version does the unit currently have installed? What’s the serial number of the unit or what was original order number?
I’ve tested doing it on 3 of the devices.
RR431-000044
RR431-000040
RR431-000025
Hmm… by the serial number, those units have latest firmware on them… why are you trying to update them?
I’m trying to drop this firmware on them:
ACR1255U-J1 software Rev 1.15.00 beta1 encrypt 20160205.hex
This one which I tested as well also fails:
ACR1255U_V1.16.03-20160616.hex
Have you verified what version of firmware is on the units? Why are you trying to downgrade them? Are they malfunctioning?
