Hi Guys,
We have 3 Samsung S4’s (2 x i9505 and 1 x i9506) all on 4.4.2.
Then we have the ARC Mobile Mate app installed on all 3 devices.
We have 2 x ACR35’s.
The ACR35’s only work on the i9506 and not on either of the i9505’s.
We get an error message stating that the reader is not responding.
I notice the compatibility chart from ACR indicates that the S4 is only supported on 4.2 and 4.3, yet it works on one of our 4.4 devices.
We were looking at using these devices as an alternative to androids with built in NFC, however compatibility is essential for the successful use of the ACR’s in our application.Cheers,
Alex.April 12, 2015 at 5:29 pm #52617Hi Alex, I forwarded your issue to the folks at ACS and they said they were aware of the issue. Their engineers think that this might be a compatibility problem of the ACR35 to the i9505. They advised to check the LED status. If the reader resets successfully, the LED will be ON. They sent us a new drop of the Android ACR35 driver and sample app, please use the new AudioJackDemo.apk app in there.
Let me know if you’re able to make any progress and any new feedback you’re able to provide. We’ll get to the bottom of it.
April 17, 2015 at 8:29 am #52662We just tried your newest APK. It works fine on a Galaxy Note 3. However it does not work on Lenovo IdeaTab A10-70 (that’s the important device for us) and not on a Nexus 7 (2012 version).
It shows the green LED but “Getting the firmware version…” results in a timeout. If you need more information you may contact me by answering here or per mail.
April 20, 2015 at 9:38 pm #52686Hey Jonas, I replayed your feedback to the engineering team as ACS. I hope they post directly here, but if not I’ll drop their answer as soon as I get it.
April 25, 2015 at 8:51 pm #52713Hi Richard,
I seem to have missed the email updates on this thread. I also contacted ACS directly and they forwarded me that AJ Demo apk I have the same issue on both i9505 and i9507 with the new apk. The green light does come on sometimes, but it then times out.April 28, 2015 at 11:15 pm #52727@Alex, good feedback. It’s a tough proposition to support audio drivers across all devices (more on that here). So getting inputs from the community is key to knowing how to prioritize resources. ACS is crunching through these issues and we will post further updates here as they become available.
May 28, 2015 at 10:49 am #52889Any updates on our issues?
May 28, 2015 at 7:53 pm #52890I spoke directly with ACS. They are aware of the issues and are doing some testing on their end. Other than that. No updates here. I guess the big guys like paypal phased out headphone readers for this exact reason. All the banks in Australia have smartphone apps now, all of which use bluetooth readers.
February 22, 2017 at 5:57 am #58590I also face this similar issue but i finally fixed it – had to do a factory reset, which wiped all my apps, etc. After doing that, the first thing I did was test the Flash APK install and it worked fine. (Perhaps AVG or something else was trying to “protect” me and not allow the manual APK install.) So, now off to get my system back to where it was.
Go to Lenovo TAB 2 A10-70 Manual for full detail.February 24, 2017 at 2:08 am #58851Alice, thanks for sharing. Are you committed to audio jack as the reader interface? The Bluetooth readers we sell are much more dependable and have become very popular. Perhaps you may consider them.
best,
Richard -
