I’m seeing plenty of chatter going on about the Flojack (and I fully understand that’s what you’re working on right now), but any update at all on the status of the Flocase? I don’t think I’ve seen it mentioned in a single update since the Kickstarter ended.
August 6, 2013 at 9:03 am #4247Hey Stephen, the FloCase has definitely been overshadowed by the popularity of the FloJack. The sad news is that we’ve only received 21 pre-orders for the FloCase so far. At that quantity we can only afford to 3D print the cases and build them up by hand. Here are a couple of our early prototypes, you can see the rough finish:
Our position is to deliver something functional, even if the polish may not meet customer expectations. Alternatively, we can offer store credit to those who don’t like the idea of handcrafted product. It’s tough to offer refunds because we’ve spent so much in development of the core technology, something the pre-orders allowed us to do.
Let me know your thoughts, this is definitely a sensitive subject for some. We will do our best to oblige.
Richard and the Flomies.

It looks like the images didn’t attach, but no worries. Edit: Now they did; looks fine. I’ve seen a couple 3D-printed things before and it’s good enough for me. There’s some pretty awesome stuff being done with the technology. I’ve waited this long for NFC on my iPhone, I can wait the case to be ready 😉- This reply was modified 11 years, 3 months ago by Stephen.

February 21, 2014 at 6:52 pm #5749It’s a good idea and one we would be willing to support. Currently, the Flojack guts can be taken out of the case it ships with and with some skill you can create a Flocase prototype of your own. I don’t think it’ll make for a good case however, since you would have to have a 2 piece slide-in system in order to have the audio plug to enter the jack without damaging anything.
A better solution would be repurposing the FloBLE guts into a solid case and deal with replacing batteries every few months rather than taking the case off every time you want to use your headset. The issue currently is that the FloBLE design is too large to fit in an iPhone case, but would work for iPad. Shrinking the FloBLE design to fit behind an iPhone is entirely on our roadmap but will take to the end of the year I’m sure to get done.
