Tagged: ACS1255U-J1 Brick
I have a couple of these devices and I’m trying to figure out how to use them. I’m using an Samsung tablet and the BLE Test app. The reference doc from ACS is…rubbish from what I can tell.
What ever I tried always resulted in a 63 00 response. Eventually zooming in on the screen shot from the user manual I realised contrary to what seemed to be indicated in the reference manual on page 31 you don’t wrap escape commands in a 6Bh, you simply put the command directly into your text file.
Everything else I’ve seen seems to suggest that you put the expected response code on the next line in the text file, send this using control, it runs and confirms the response matches.
Therefore going for something simple, and to stop the damn thing shutting down I sent a file with the following
E0 00 00 48 04
E1 00 00 00 01 04
It connected, read, waited, timed out and that seems to have been the end of the 1255 as now when I turn on in bluetooth mode I get a purplish LED 1 and red LED 2, which changes to red LED 1 and LED 2 off and that’s it.
Is there anyway of resurrecting it? I saw a post from you in Stack Overflow from 2016 about some software you have, but it needs Windows 7/XP – which is a bit like hens teeth now.
The device was running firmware 1.15.01 I believe.
I have another device, same firmware, which I can continue with, but don’t want to brick that too, and don’t really have anything else to try that would make me think it won’t go the same way.

Hi Tom, sorry for the late reply on this. Did you try the ACS Flash Tool?
best,
Richard

I don’t have a Windows 7 machine available. I tried to download the ISO from Microsoft, but you need a valid licence key, and nothing I had available was acceptable – even though it was my understanding later OS keys should work.
