On some phones with NFC reader embedded, if the phone goes into a sleep mode, the NFC reader does not work. How does the Flojack work if the phone goes into a sleep mode? Does the Flojack “wake up” the phone, letting it know there is data to be transferred and/or does the Flojack hold onto the data until the phone is ready (awake). If so, how much data can be stored until the link is established?
Hey Sue, thanks for the post. The FloJack currently does not support standalone operation, however this operation is part of the road map. Once the support is enabled, the current FloJack will have 256 bytes available for persistent storage of which 5-10% will be taken by processing overhead. The FloJack is unable to wake the iOS device from sleeping background processes are limited, but the FloJack will be capable of storing up just over 200 bytes once we enable this support.
Hope this helps.
Richard and the Flomies.
