Tagged: FloBLE NFC BLE extender
Hi, I’m using NFC with Webscorer to time a multi-stage race. Currently we use water proof cellphones, scanning each competitors tag. It worked really nice last year, but we are looking to improve our solution.
Now we have to swipe the phone over the tag, and we would rather have the phone sitting in a more permanent location. Can we use the FloBLE Plus as a wireless extension?
We do not have any involvement with the webscorer app, so if the FloBLE doesn’t work natively as an extension, we would need an app to do so.
Thanks in advance!
Orjan,
Hi, how are you? Yes you could use the FloBLE Plus as an extender. But it is important you keep the phone at a distance lower than 33 ft (safe distance) or 50 ft (line of sight).
Are you planning to write your own application?
What type of phones are you using? Right now, the FloBLE SDK is available only for iOS. For Android, it will be available soon.
Thank you very much,
Daniel
No plans to write our own application. 33ft is no problems at all, it’s just a matter of freeing ourselves from the “Near” in NFC.
We are using Sony Xperia M4’s. Is the Android SDK available soon? I assume we need some kind of an app just to make it work as an extender?
Thanks!
Orjan,
Yes you need an app to be able to read/decode the NFC card. We provide the SDK, and a basic sample app.
When do you plan to use the FloBLE? The Android SDK will be available in 1-2 months.
Thanks
Need it ready for May, but from what you’re saying – it’s not for me. I don’t have the knowledge or interest to build an app. I just need an extender. Thanks for your quick replies!
