Hey Guys,
Have a question in regards to the Flojack Gen 2. Was wondering if this could be used as a check in unit where if our users had UHF tags, they could just walk by and be considered “checked” in. Essentially this could also track how long they were near the area correct? I understand that you need to plug an Iphone/Ipad to it but functionality wise do you think it is feasible?
Secondly, if we were to connect this to an Ipad via cable and then connect a Floble with BLE, can both function together under the same App or would there be too much disruption? Thanks!

August 1, 2017 at 4:03 pm #60546Hi Michael, it is possible to track checkins and dwell time of people with UHF RFID but the FloJack Gen2 may fall short of your expectations. Reason being that the power and beam width of the device is less than ideal for this use case. We’ve done custom system designs for this and mostly go with wall powered reader infrastructure. This overcomes the issues of UHF RFID tagging people which related to the fact that water absorbs RF energy reducing tag sensitivity and range. There’s also the issue of tag orientation which can vary frequently with lanyard and wristband style tags (footwear is preferable).
UHF RFID is an expansive space and we are working to introduce more products for our customers to integrate in their solutions. We are doing the same with BLE designs as well. The Flomio SDK and Middleware will remain consistent across these products allowing precisely the functionality you described: cross technology integration without much disruption.

Thanks for letting us know. Do you have any products in the horizon that can satisfy what we were needing? I know you had the Flomio Kiosk before that we were looking at but based on your previous messages I don’t know where development is on that so far. Please update me if something like that will be released. Thank you!
