Hi There Richard,
Can you answer a couple of questions for me.
Can the flojack receive NFC ‘taps’ from both sides of the device? So to allow the device to be spun in the right orientation to align with handset.
Is the SDK linked to from the Flojack page the latest release which you have referenced in recent previous posts on the forum.
Cheers
Ian
Hi Ian, yeah the FloJack has two antennas, a large on the front (1.25in x 2in) and a smaller one on the back (0.75in x 0.75in). Depending on the size of the tags you’re trying to read these can each have varying performance. I’d say for ISO7810 cards it’s best to use the front antenna but for 40mm round sticker tags (and smaller) the back antenna should suffice.
The formal SDK is currently not available yet. What’s been linked in previous forum posts is just the driver. It’s an important distinction since the driver is all you need to communicate with the read, but to get the driver to read/write tags and do all the things that -for instance- an Android NFC device could do requires a bit of work. We talk at lengths throughout the forum about this work and help developers along as much as we can. But it’s important to understand that it’s not trivial to get the reader working for a 80% of use cases.
