I received my Flojack today and it does not work. I installed the battery and downloaded the NFC Actions app to iPhone. I have tried to read, write, and inspect a tag and it does nothing. I removed the battery and put it back in and the light blinks multiple times and then goes out.
I know you are very busy so when you can give me some troubleshooting steps and I will be happy to do them.
September 21, 2013 at 2:11 am #4700Hey there Glenn,
The latest FloJack firmware update broke the NFC Actions app on the App store. We’re currently testing our new NFC Actions app and hope to have it up sometime this weekend. The Apple approval process might delay it going live for a couple days though.
September 21, 2013 at 11:44 am #4702Thanks for the quick response! Sounds great to know you are already working on the solution. Keep up the good work and hang in there! Hopefully Apple won’t take long.
September 24, 2013 at 9:05 am #4730I got the same problem, I received my order (minus the FloCase and a battery).
Jake, can I download the code of the app somewhere? Then I can build it myself and get started. I hope you guys also tested it work with iOS 7.
Is there a ETA for the FloCase?
BTW, the video at step 2 on this page is private: https://flomio.com/flojack/
So, not really useful if we can’t watch it.September 24, 2013 at 9:27 am #4731I also tried the FlojackExample app from the SDK, but no actions at all, sure it says that my volume is too low or ok, but that’s where it ends.
Can this be related to the volume limited that I have on my devices, or hasn’t the SDK been updated to the new FW?
September 24, 2013 at 10:04 am #4734We’re in the process of completing the new NFC Actions app. iOS 7 has thrown a wrench in our plans but we’re getting through it.
The new app update will fix all of the issues early KickStarter FloJack recipients are seeing.
I’ll keep you guys posted.
September 24, 2013 at 10:07 am #4735Jake, can you also answer my other questions:
– ETA FloCase?
– SDK Usable or not?
– Is it Volume limit related?September 25, 2013 at 10:47 am #4737I have similar problems. Please let us know when there is a working example in the SDK so we can compile it and calibrate the devices. I can’t determine if the ones I have are functional or not.
September 26, 2013 at 2:13 pm #4742The FloCase will be put into production once we satisfy the outstanding FloJack orders. It’s difficult to work on more than one project with our current team size but we’re making headway nonetheless.
The new version of NFC Actions should be finished soon.
Be sure to select the EU button in the example app.
October 16, 2013 at 9:36 pm #4860I have discovered what my problem is with my Flo Jack.
I noticed when I got it that the jack that plugs into the iPhone would rotate inside of the Flo Jack about 30 degrees. This rotation caused 2 of the wires to break where they were soldered to the jack. I soldered them back but they just promptly broke again. Either the jack should not rotate or multi-strand wire should have been used since it is more flexible than one solid wire.
I am not expecting you to do anything since I tried to repair it myself but I wonder if others may be having the same problem.
October 17, 2013 at 4:47 pm #4863@Glenn,
The jack should have been glued securely in that valley. To remedy your issue, just put a small drop of super glue — that worked in some of our initial test units.
Jake
October 17, 2013 at 6:12 pm #4864It is breaking again when trying to get it back together. I don’t know if I have enough wire to try it again but I will try.
October 18, 2013 at 2:04 am #4865Any Updates on getting the IOS app working? I can’t confirm that my FloJacks are working (or not) either. I do get a red LED flash, but no NFC comms 🙁 Thanks
October 25, 2013 at 9:19 pm #4927I have tried to get everything soldered back but my skills are not the best. When things settle down and you are caught up and producing final units, can you replace this one? If not, I understand.
October 25, 2013 at 11:38 pm #4928@Kirk
Feel free to download our SDK and you can use that to further test & tune your FloJack.
@Glenn
Please post a photo of the issue you’re having — I’m curious to see what broke. Repair typically isn’t an issue with FloJacks.
Jake
October 26, 2013 at 10:39 am #4929The problem was caused by the jack being able to rotate. You stated earlier in this thread that it should have been glued in place. It was not so it rotated and broke the black and red wires as the photo shows.
I have been patient but I am beginning to grow weary of this. A product that is broken and an app that does not exist. Certainly NOT what I expected.
October 26, 2013 at 10:40 am #4930October 26, 2013 at 10:42 am #4931I have tried twice to insert the photo. The link is good but it does not show up.

October 27, 2013 at 12:01 am #4935Thanks – I will send you an email.
October 30, 2013 at 10:41 am #4945Did you get my email?
October 30, 2013 at 11:39 am #4946replied.
thanks,
Jake
November 23, 2013 at 11:16 am #5120I decided to not send my broken unit in for repair but to wait until the new unit is available and then swap it. What is your estimate as to when the new unit will be available?
November 25, 2013 at 11:12 am #5123The new units will ship Q1 2014.
We’ve already made a working BLE example. I’ll have a mass update posted soon.
Jake
