Tagged: NFC Patch Kit
Hey there,
We are looking to set up front-facing NFC scanning for our android kiosk tablets. The Band Aid looks like it was designed specifically for this, but based on the feedback in the forum it seems like durability might be an issue. Since we’re deploying our kiosks in real commercial settings we can’t really have doubts about durability.
The FlowJacks look pretty solid though so we are wondering if they work out of the box with a Nexus 7 without any code modifications? Or would we need to use the SDK and write some custom code to detect scans on the FloJack?
Thanks
Hi Matt, the NFC Patch Kit (formerly NFC BandAid before we got a letter from J&J) is much more durable now that it’s made on PCB material. Check out this post for latest imagery… we still need to put these on the product page.
We have FloJacks in stock but as indicated on this blog post we have experienced issues with the FloJack on iOS7 and have stopped shipping orders until we can resolve these issues. We’ve been working on a new NFC reader that circumvents the audio jack with Bluetooth Low Energy that may be of interest to you. It won’t be available for another couple months though.
I think your best option is the NFC Patch Kit. It’s well built and available now.
