Hey!
I want to use your NFC kiosk concept at my event .. How can i get that?November 5, 2016 at 4:08 pm #57198The physical kiosk setup or the software solution?

November 6, 2016 at 10:58 am #57203Hi Siddharth, we learned a few years ago that the NFC Kiosk software business was not efficient. Every customer wanted a different set of features and managing these required building out more infrastructure than was worth it. It’s best to build out the system on a case-by-case basis with the pieces we have internally. What size event were you planning to have? How many of them and at what frequency? What features are you wanting the software/hardware to provide?
November 6, 2016 at 12:34 pm #57204Hi Richard,
Fair Enough!Actually i have a restaurant and a photo booth is already installed there. We use google pixel as our camera( which supports NFC) and mail people picture at the end of the day, which not every guest prefer(as they want the picture instantly). Thus,we want to make use of NFC and improve cutomer experience.
We are looking for following features —
1. Facebook check in
2. Direct posting of picture on guests facebook and/or instagram.
3. The picture that we will post should have our logo or name on it.And we will be using it in our 7 different location.
November 7, 2016 at 11:17 am #57215Hi Siddharth, I understand what you’re seeking to achieve. Although possible and perhaps better than what you have in place already, it may not be as friction-less for your customers as you imagine. Let me explain. The issue is not with NFC or other proximity id technologies, but with the privacy protections of platforms like Facebook. For instance referring to feature #1, in order to automate the check in of your customers to your restaurant on Facebook you have to first get their permission to do so. That requires that they login to their Facebook account and give your application rights to post content on their behalf. This is the biggest pain to overcome for your system to work and there’s a few options to achieve it.
The best way we’ve found to do this is by building an app (if you don’t have one already). People are more willing to download an app than any other method of acquisition. Once they have the app installed, logging in with Facebook is simple (assuming they have the Facebook app). Then tapping their iPhone/Android phone on your photobooth (Google Pixel device) could trigger the 3 features you described. This can cost several thousand dollars for both iOS and Android so will depend on your budget.
The other way is to put up a splash page for your restaurant online (eg http://your_restaurant.flomio.com) and ask guests to go to that site to login with their Facebook accounts. Once they’ve done so they will be prompted with a digital loyalty pass to add to Apple Wallet or Android Pay, which will store their identity related to your business in their phone’s NFC memory. That way when they tap their iPhone/Android phone on your photobooth, their identity token will be shared over NFC to Google Pixel and relayed to our web app to link back to their Facebook profile and carry out the 3 features you described.
To get this whole system working will take some work… definitely in the $10k ball park if you want it done right. We have published several blogs on the subject and have some white papers we’re working on that will shed more light on the infrastructure needed to deliver a seamless customer journey that make campaigns successful.
best,
Richard -
