Hello friends!
First of all, congratulations for the project, USA were missing a specialized company in RFID like yours, keep dealing with SDKs and hardwares in Japanese it’s hard!! lol..
So, we have a company that sells tickets online, and we are considering to add the RFID Technology into our services.
Here is what we are imagining for our workflow, please advise us whats the best cost X benefit for our company, we want to do an initial test with the devices and make other purchases later on after initial tests.
We need a hardware that works with our ipads mini, capable to read and write in tags. We need to be able to use the SDK with our app built on IONIC.Questions:
– Whats the cheapest and reliable hardware could we get?
– We will be operating online, but i cannot keep pinging your server everytime we scan the ids to verify the autenticity of the sdk, we need to be able to operate offline
– If we are going to operate offline, do i need to buy the sdk pro for every single hardware i buy?
– How long the rechargeable baterry lasts? Our events lasts around 5 hours average. Thanks guys! hope ill be able to start working with you guys soon.
November 2, 2015 at 7:44 pm #53644Hey there, thanks for the support. I think adding RFID to your ticket business is very wise as it will let you offer more value added services. From a high level, given that you’re using Ionic I understand that want to use a web app with the RFID reader device. Our Flomio SDK is capable of doing that with a Cordova Plugin we wrote. We don’t have much documentation on the integration but we’ve built several integrations recently at hackathons and conferences so we will be able to support your efforts here on the Forums.
To answer your questions:
– Whats the cheapest and reliable hardware could we get?
FloJack with Basic Flomio SDK support (requires online use). Order one here.
– We will be operating online, but i cannot keep pinging your server every time we scan the ids to verify the authenticity of the sdk, we need to be able to operate offline
The Flomio SDK checks the reader ID against our license server once per session and not on every tag scan. That said the Pro Flomio SDK will allow you to operate our readers entirely offline. You can choose the the Pro version in the FloJack product page (see dropdown menu).
– If we are going to operate offline, do i need to buy the sdk pro for every single hardware i buy?
Yes. The Pro SDK is built we the hardcoded license key associated with your reader.
– How long the rechargeable baterry lasts? Our events lasts around 5 hours average.
The FloJack battery lasts roughly 8 hours scanning tags back-to-back. This is uncommon, however, since you rarely need to operate that way. Typical scenarios include scanning specific app view which wakes the reader to start polling for tags. Otherwise the reader is in low power sleep mode. That said, you’re able to keep the reader plugged in to the charger while using it. In other words, the reader will operate continuously with the micro USB charging cable attached and powered. This is how we’ve deployed it with self-service kiosks from Lilitab.

So far you answer all of my questions, here is a couple more if you could help me out.
I’ve tryed once to mess around with RFID and i had some issues with the data writting format and the tag type.
First, the data that we want to write inside the tag, would be some format like 999.999.999.999 .
Do you think Flojack would be able to write in this format?
Regarding to what tag i could use, do you think o would be able to read and write with these tags here? -> http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/MDT012-factory-price-rfid-Epoxy-tag_60071873802.html?spm=a2700.7724857.29.100.TMJz4SThanks Richard!
November 5, 2015 at 6:49 pm #53667Richard! Bought your device as recommended!!! 🙂
Excited to get it! Thanks!November 7, 2015 at 9:20 am #53682Hi Rodrigo, yes the FloJack will be able to write data to NTAG203 tags (that’s the type of tag described in the alibaba link you sent). The formatting is up to you when you prepare to write the tag using the Flomio SDK (with or without delimiters).
