Hello,
We are working on a prototype for a large scale project. We would like the prototype to be scalable and more importantly be indicative of the larger scale project.
The plan is to develop multiple scan options using the device – from IOS, Android to PC and stationary desktops as endpoints. That being the case, we want to use one of these for prototype. I am contemplating between uFR Nano and Total Wireless Reader for the prototype.
Question 1: If we develop a solution based on the SDK of FloJack or FloBLE – will they both be interchangeable – for example – I write a read write solution for Android using one of these (FloJack or FloBLE), can I use the program (is the SDK the same) for the other device? FloBLE is too expensive for me to choose for prototype but do not want to provide the wrong track for the client.
Question 2: One of my prototype device is a NFC capable Samsung tablet. If the tablet is already NFC capable, how do I tell the client the need for the FLO device.
Thanks in advance for your response.
UshaApril 5, 2015 at 8:58 pm #52271Hi Usha, from a high level we are focused on providing a uniform Flomio SDK for all the readers we sell (and will sell). This will allow developers to swap readers as needed for their deployments while their software applications remain untouched. You can study details of the SDK architecture here.

Indeed this will be the case. Currently the FloBLE project continues to await a large enough order to cover the expenses of large scale manufacturing. Our target price point is $59.99 but we will require a minimum order of 5000 units to achieve that. We have several customers interested but an order that size takes time to get approved.

The issue with NFC capable tablets is their rear scan point. It can prevent deployments where you need to install the tablet into a case or mounted onto a wall. The NFC Patch Kit and the FloJack are used to remedy this limitation by bringing the scan surface to the front. So it depends on your particular use case whether our line of products are the best option for your client.

Can you also help me differentiate you and d-logic (uFR nano and Total Wireless)? How are you same or different? I would like to understand the feature differences along with other points where you may be different.
Thanks again and look forward to working with you soon.

Can I use any MiFare cards with this system? What are the other cards / options I will have that can be used with FloJack.
Thank you
UshaApril 6, 2015 at 10:59 am #52328The main difference I see between our reader solutions and those from D-Logic (uFR nano and Total Wireless) is that we work with iOS devices along with all the other platforms. Furthermore, the FloBLE supports ISO15693 which, although less popular than ISO14443A/B, is crucial for some niche applications. Finally, I’ll point out that the FloJack has a working SDK and application in beta that allows for UUID capture along with reading and writing data blocks. This works with Mifare Classic (1K, 4K), Mini, Ultralight, NTAG203, DESFire EV1, Topaz, and FeliCa tags.
