Thanks for the conversation this am. The replacement of the RN42 bluetooth module by PN 512 chip on my board to trigger my board to perform an action. The situation is that the distance of the bluetooth is not acceptable and NFC distance is the requirement to perform the action.
Therefore the PN 512 with (developmental board?) on my board/device is triggered by smartphone when the PN 512 is activated when the action is required by several different smartphones which may act on several of my devices simultaneously.
Hope this is better
Jeffrey
Hi guys
I want to substitute Microchip RN 42(uses 2x aaa batteries) on a board to get shorter proximity. Can you advise which of the PN 512 modules is better suited for substitution or weigh the pros and cons in plain English.
The end product will use your phone reader. Is your combined system (reader / PN 512) programmable so that more that one phone reader connects with a single PN 512 module,

Hi Jeffery, given that we’ve talked at lengths about your project over the phone I’ll keep my response here brief. The PN512 is a popular NFC transceiver from NXP and there are several development boards on the market that use it. One example is the Keyduino Project recently hosted on Kickstarter. This design is built on the popular Arduino stack so you can likely trigger anything you want with it. For something smaller and more adept to wireless operation there is the Flomio FloBLE Mini prototpye that we sell. The Mini operated on coincell batteries and can be wired up to trigger a Digital IO line as a result of an NFC interaction. Finally you can use one of our production readers like the FloBLE Plus to trigger your event on a Bluetooth host device.
Again it’s tough to say which is most suitable for your project without knowing more details as to the requirements.
Glad to help,
Richard
