Hi –
I’m hoping to get a bit more information about how your paid SDK model works with apps offered through the App Store. As I understand it, the SDK is per reader/device? If that’s correct, how is an end-user’s SDK purchase linked to that device?
Thanks,
Becca
Hi Becca, this is good question that few people have made. The SDK is indeed licensed per reader/device. This is mainly because the readers we sell are manufactured by partner factories that are selling the same devices to other distributors as well. Our “per device” license model protects us from customers using the Flomio SDK with unlicensed readers purchased through these other distributors. We’ve had customers who’ve bought ACR35s from other websites come to us asking to purchase the Flomio SDK. The process of upgrading an ACR35 to a FloJack is pretty simple and detailed here.
The Flomio SDK is linked to the readers we sell through a hardcoded device ID flashed in at the factory. It’s guaranteed to be unique and provides a way to manage reader assets on our developer portal. More details about the Flomio SDK license agreement can be found here.
Hi Richard –
Thanks for the response! Is there any way to jump on a quick call with you? I want to make sure I’m recommending the best possible option for our client. My number is in my profile and I’m at extension 102.
Thanks,
Becca
