This sounds like a job for the FloBLE Plus.

There would need to be a reader at the teeing ground and in each hole. You would need to test the reader with the golf balls to make sure they reliably trigger when the ball enters the hole.

The best option for this would be an implantable NFC tag.

We don’t source these in low volume but you can order some samples here. These are a bit pricey because they are designed for human implants but once you prove out your golf ball prototype we’ll be able to source similar ones for much cheaper. I estimate that you will need 6 tags for each golf ball to get full coverage once the ball falls into the hole.

> How many can sync to each mobile device? We want an ipad at each hole. Can one ipad handle 2 readers?

An iPad can connect and control as many as 6 FloBLE readers so you should be fine.

> Can we hardwire the power?

As detailed in this blog post, our FloBLE readers can operate continuously if powered by a USB2.0+ source (500mA or more).
