Tagged: iOS NFC ApplePay Android Tablets
Hi, I run a payments and customer loyalty app. Users pay through the app, generally using a QR code to receive a bill from the merchant. However, our merchants use an Android tablet with NFC built in, and so Android users can actually tap to receive the bill as well, rather than scanning the QR.
Is there a way, or an attachment offered by Flomio, that could allow our tablets to send the bill to iPhone users via tap? Essentially, we just send a special link to customer users which opens in our app and shows them amount requested by the merchant. Then they submit the payment.
So the iPhone would just have to be able to read an NFC message and open the link contained in it.
Thanks for your help!
Hi,
Your client app could use Apple’s CoreNFC (on supported devices) to read a tag from the Android device, if Card Emulation was enabled. You can use FloBLE Plus devices to emulate NFC tags for the iOS device to tap to read the NFC message and visit the link.
The card emulation feature is currently only available upon request when ordering a FloBLE Plus as it requires a firmware modification. We currently have limited support for libraries to enable it. Is your Android app written with Java/Kotlin or using a cross platform solution like Cordova?

Hi,
I just bought a FloBLE Plus and I am having trouble getting the card emulation to work. Is it still the case that you need a special request to enable card emulation?
Thanks,
Logan
