Hi
We purchased a FloJack BZR a year ago along with a Pro Licence. We received a FlomioSDKv3.0_Pro_beta SDK that contained 2 APKs for android as test apps.
We installed the apps and tried to use the FloJack and all of the apps we are using do not recognise the device. We have recharged the device (showed a yellow light while plugged in and waited until the light went out)
We tried the ACR app and although that recognises the device is plugged in it does not allow us to any further than an error pop up saying the device is not responding.
We have also tried the Flomio NFC Actions app on iOS and that did not work either just shows a spinner and then mutes the phone.
I’ve searched through the forums and nearly all of the help links no longer work so I’m just confused on how to get the product working without writing an application myself.
Does the BZR even support modern Android/iOS? Is it still a supported product by Flomio? Am I better off getting a different external scanner?
Is there some solid documentation with a step by step in order to demo the product? It feels like all the documentation is heavily out of date? Is this the case or is there somewhere I have not looked? Thanks for the help!
October 12, 2018 at 1:13 pm #64162Hi Terrance, the audio jack interface is not always consistent across all Android devices. What devices and OS versions are you using for your testing? The BLE interface is much more stable across mobile devices, so an option would be to swap for a FloBLE reader instead. We still sell and support audio jack readers for some niche use cases but are working to phase them out for BLE readers. Documentation on installing and using the Flomio SDK can be found here: http://docs.flomio.com

Thanks for the fast reply. We have tried an iPhone 5S, SE and X with iOS 10.3.3, 11.1 and 12.0 respectively. Then we have tried Pixel XL2, Samsung A3, Huawei P20 and some of our other test devices ranging between Android Lollipop and Pie. We get a beep to tell us the device is plugged in but never a green light to show the code has recognised the device. Thanks for the info about the BLE reader. We are trying to make a really simple app for a hardware installation with an undecided large Android tablet that can recognise some basic tags to perform some functionality. We just need the simplest to setup with constant power supply.
Thanks for the docs link seems the ‘download Flomio test app’ link is broken though. Also I can see you have an iOS SDK on GitHub. Is the Android version still not out for release as the Android Integration section is also empty?
We usually use your range extenders for these kinds of projects and they have worked great we were hoping these external scanners would provide a greater choice in hardware and configuration when building the stands so we just wanted to setup a demo to see how reliable it is.Thanks again
October 30, 2018 at 6:53 am #64259Hi Terence,
A native Android SDK development has slowed due to the more pressing demands that our customers have such as Apple Wallet and Google Pay NFC support and a cross platform Javascript SDK.
Due to the issues Richard has mentioned the BZR is not a strong performer, we advise using our BLE devices ( FloBLE Plus ) for a much more reliable experience.Scott
