Hi, I’m writing regarding information about NFC Kiosk service. It seems like it’s no longer available right?
Thanks a lot

RodrigoJuly 6, 2016 at 6:02 pm #55914Hi Rodrigo, yes we took the system offline because it wasn’t performing the way we knew it should. We learned a lot from our customers and the events industry so are focusing on building up the weakest link -ubiquitous NFC hardware- before bringing it back. What were you interested in particular about it? It would be great to hear your use case and requirements for it to be valuable. That’ll make sure we have you covered once we’re ready to bring it back.

RichardJuly 7, 2016 at 10:23 am #55925Hi!!
I would be interested in the possibility of making post in behalf of our guest for example.
We have experience with nfc and rfid but we don’t know a lot of facebook app for example.
I have considered your solution because I think it contains all of what we can need.
I’m looking forward hearing from you about the new development.
Really appreciated if you could get in touch with me.
Thanks a lot

RodrigoJuly 8, 2016 at 4:26 am #55942I understand. How would you be handling association of the NFC/RFID tag to the guest’s Facebook account? Facebook no longer allows one PC/tablet to login many different account holders so this will need to be done via an email RSVP before the event or on the guests on mobile device at the event. Is that acceptable?
Also, what content would you like to post to Facebook? How often and triggered by what? Do you have event organizers willing to pay for this service or are you organizing an event where you would like to try this feature? What are the typical event sizes you would be interested in? Will you be purchasing tags and readers through us or just interested in the NFC Kiosk software for your deployment?
Sorry for so many questions but this information is vital for us to prioritize this development effort as it’s not a trivial ask.

RichardJuly 8, 2016 at 4:55 am #55943I understand the number of questions, because I also have a lot.
How would you be handling association of the NFC/RFID tag to the guest’s Facebook account?
I was thinking about using facebook tokens, using facebook login app, then save on db wristband uid and token for using later.
Facebook no longer allows one PC/tablet to login many different account holders so this will need to be done via an email RSVP before the event or on the guests on mobile device at the event. Is that acceptable?
I didn’t know about thin new restriction from facebook.
It’s possible to program a facebook app that login with user token, upload a photo and then make logout? For us must be ok with an RSVP mail for that purpose.
What content would you like to post to Facebook?
Photos, videos, checking and state posts.
How often and triggered by what?
We pretend to put several kiosk or organization people with tablets, the guest approach to the kiosk, put the wristband near to it, make a photo himself and upload it. Same with organization people. Triggered any time a guest wants to interact in the event
Do you have event organizers willing to pay for this service or are you organizing an event where you would like to try this feature?
Both, because I have clients that I want to offer this kind of service, but I need to try first.
What are the typical event sizes you would be interested in?
We work in small, medium events. Most of them press events, but we are thinking in expand the business to something bigger like music festivals here in Spain.
Will you be purchasing tags and readers through us or just interested in the NFC Kiosk software for your deployment?
We have our own readers and tags, we are more interested in the software and all the manage advice.
I hope that could be helping you.
If you want to know anything else please feel free to ask me.
Thanks a lot

RodrigoJuly 8, 2016 at 12:10 pm #55947Good feedback. I have a few more follow up questions.
By small, medium sized how many people would you say? 500 or less?
For photos and videos, how are you expecting these will be captured? In an automated way (tripod) or with photography staff? What camera hardware are you planning on using? NFC enabled devices like Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom or professional DSLR cameras?
July 11, 2016 at 4:09 am #55968Hello!
Small, medium size events 500 to 2000 persons more or less.
For phots and videos we are panning to use tripod and staff people using mobile phones with good cameras like samsung not planning use dslr cameras at the moment.

RodrigoJuly 11, 2016 at 7:49 pm #55977Understood. That helps us prioritize the work. We are focusing most of our efforts these days in making our NFC/BLE/RFID readers compatible with all mobile devices, both iOS and Android. Once we’ve overcome this (massive) challenge, we will begin to add in our higher layer stack services like NFC Kiosk and several others we have planned. In your case since you’ll be using Android’s native NFC stack, you will need to fork our Cordova plugin and integrate it in with the native Android NFC API. This has been done already by the popular Phonegap NFC plugin so in effect you’ll be merging in our plugin to it. Once you have that in place, you’ll be able to reuse our cloud system and workflow to manage your events. Given our workload this summer, I don’t see us getting to this until the late fall (November).

RichardJuly 12, 2016 at 4:26 am #55983Hello, I have been using the phonegap nfc plugin, but I think it’s a bit basic.
I’m happy to help you improving your solution and looking forward to use it.
Will you make a general announcement when it’s finished?
Bests regards,
RodrigoJuly 12, 2016 at 8:42 am #55986Yes, we’ll definitely be sending an update to all our customers and Forum community members of products and services as they are released. I will add you to our beta list of customers if you’re interested.
I’m curious what you thought was basic about the phonegap nfc plugin… were their functions you wanted to perform that weren’t available? Was the plugin performance poor in terms of latency or other? This feedback will help us design our plugin to avoid disappointing developers.
thanks,
RichardJuly 13, 2016 at 6:00 am #55992Yes, please add me to the beta list.
Basic I meant in order to work with chip encryption, locking sectors by password, etc.
Best regards,
RodrigoJuly 13, 2016 at 2:19 pm #55995Uff.. including chip encryption and locking sectors is going to be tough to include in our plugin efforts in the short term. We are focusing our efforts on the broader scope of proximity id where NFC, BLE, and UHF RFID can coexist in a hybrid solution to deliver magical experiences. That’s where we’ve found the most demand for our products and services and less in the cryptographic aspects of contactless smartcards. That said we’re always open to reprioritize our efforts in the event that our customers need to deliver something. That’s why we offer a Flomio Service item on our store for the “I need you to implement this” feature requests.
I’ll give you a heads up once our beta is ready for release.
best,
RichardJuly 14, 2016 at 4:24 am #56002I understand.
We tried to use the plugin for other projects that requires encryption, finally we decide to use the android native api and works fine.
For the future project we are not going to need encryption, we need to focus in the other services that we have talk.
We are in touch!!
Best regards,
Rodrigo -
