Hi,
We’ve developed an iOS app for a proximity use case anchored on BTLE. BTLE just isn’t stable or accurate enough to handle a precise event. As such, we are looking to test whether NFC could be leveraged for the precise interactions needed, and BTLE serve as only tracking mechanism (which it’s doing quite well).
My question is – which of the hardware readers are optimal for a use case of a person taking their iphone 6/7, tapping a box, and that precise interaction being captured by an app on the iphone? This is not a payments use case.
Thank you,
Jared

The iPhone’s NFC interface is more complex and involves several APDU commands to be exchanged before any unique identifying information to be extracted. Another catch is that you need to have a pre-added Apple Wallet pass on the target iPhone in order for it to work. Because of the active data exchange, we recommend our FloBLE line of readers which are much faster than our FloJack readers. This will make the user experience best.

RichardApril 28, 2017 at 10:10 am #59645Thanks Richard. I went ahead and purchased both the FloBLE EMV and FloJack BZR readers. I’ve received them but no documentation or instructions on how to work them. I have downloaded your ‘NFC Actions’ app (iOS iPhone 6) but neither of the readers appear to be reading nfc tag. Can you please advise…?
Thx you — Jared
May 2, 2017 at 6:01 am #59692Simply to test that the EMV and BZR are reading nfc, can I use your NFC Actions app??
Thanks
May 2, 2017 at 9:19 am #59693Currently only the Flomio Test app is capable of operating all of our readers. NFC Actions will be adding support for EMV and BZR shortly but it’s currently not released to the app store yet. I have shared the Flomio Test app via TestFlight to your email on file for you to try that in the meantime.
best,
