We are building a suite of apps for iPads and Samsung tablets. We would like to integrate your hardware. We are using react-native for the apps. Do you have any plugins for react-native or cordova? We know about the cordova iOS plugin, but we need one for android as well. It would be great if both plugins were for react-native!
February 25, 2016 at 2:29 pm #54623Hi Neerla, we are currently working on expanding our Cordova plugin to include Android as well as iOS. Our release date is in late March but we can add you to our beta list if you need it sooner. Porting the plugin to React-native is not on the immediate roadmap but if you make a compelling business proposition we can correct that. Our current focus is expanding our SDK to support more reader diversity through one Cordova interface rather than sticking to one reader and expanding development environment support. If that seems like a bad approach, I’m glad to here your thoughts.

RichardFebruary 26, 2016 at 3:40 am #54629Hi Richard,
Thank you for the prompt reply. React-native plugins for Android and iOS would be very beneficial for us, and would benefit flomio as well, in the short term and increasingly over the long term. One of the apps in our app suite (all built using react-native) is reliant upon NFC scanning. We have a number of clients standing by to implement our system, and if we can immediately and successfully incorporate the flojack, we aim to place orders for approximately 100 units within approximately 2 months, with increasing orders to follow. We can correspond in more detail using a private communication platform.
Kind regards,
Nareela
February 26, 2016 at 12:22 pm #54638Hi Nareela, thanks for the feedback. 100 units is definitely a compelling number if you’re planning purchasing Pro SDK license upgrades for each (main advantage of Pro version over Basic is it can operate offline). Also, we would need you to place a down payment towards the purchase of the 100 units to prioritize this work. We can prepare a formal invoice with the 2 month development timeline and deliverables to give you some accountability and visibility on deliverables.
If that sounds agreeable, I can work on the formal invoice and we can coordinate offline. Just let me know.
thanks,
RichardOctober 19, 2016 at 4:19 am #56957Hi,
Did the react-native plugin go anywhere? I too am very interested in making a FloBLE work in a react app.
Thanks
Dave
October 19, 2016 at 8:01 am #56958Hey Dave, building up react-native support for our readers is definitely on our todo list but we haven’t prioritized it since most of our customers have asked for Cordova instead. Given that we are resource limited it’s important for us to vet the opportunity and demand for a feature before getting it done. Can you tell us about your application, it’s initial scale, and why the interest in react-native as a mobile dev stack?

RichardOctober 19, 2016 at 8:59 am #56959Hi Richard,
I’m working with a London borough in the UK to develop an iPad solution that needs to be able to read an NFC chip. We’ve bought one FLoBLE and want to trial our solution with 6-8 initially in our proof of concept phase with the idea after to roll out across London with hundreds of installations. I’ve got experience in react which is why this would be handy but i’m not totally locked down to that technology so if the Cordova plugin you have released does everything it needs to I’ll look at using that technology. We’re also looking to see if there is any other solution (not just FloBLE) that may intergrate/roll out more easily. Happy to report back any findings if that’s useful as we progress.
Thanks
October 20, 2016 at 2:47 am #56968Hey Dave, that helps. In order to not delay you, I would suggest you go with Cordova for now, if not our native Flomio SDK directly. We’ll keep you updated as we role out support for react-native so you can try that out for speed.
RE: other solution. The FloBLE Plus is our most capable reader in production but some find expensive. Our other readers are tuned for specific use cases where tag geometries that can be read are limited and reader connectivity is different, but they are more affordable. I’d have to know more about the target NFC tags you’re looking to use, where you expect to mount these tags, what your UX expectations are, etc. to give you more insight what would work best.
If you’d like to speak privately rather than on the Forums, we offer Flomio Service hours to address that.

RichardOctober 20, 2016 at 4:31 am #56982Hi Richard,
Thanks for your response. Would you expect the instructions https://github.com/flomio/flomio_cordova_plugin to work fine on Xcode 7.2.1 building for iOS 9.2? I’ve followed the basic steps to setup a cordova app and followed these instructions dropping the iOS folder from the 2.0 SDK into the project as instructed but it builds with an error. I just want to know if you believe all the instructions are correct and working it’s something with my setup, given i’m looking at a few new things I don’t want to be troubleshooting an issue in the wrong place.
Thanks
Dave
October 20, 2016 at 4:38 am #56984We test against the latest iOS and Xcode releases so 10.0.2 and 8.0, respectively. I know it’s a pain to constantly upgrade and the issue may in fact still be present, but it’s the only way to provide you with the most effective support. Our Cordova plugin has had issues in the past given that it tends to trail behind the Flomio SDK releases a bit. Searching the Forums for “Cordova” might get you some answers as a few others have been using it. Feel free to post issue on GitHub against the plugin and we’ll assign and close them ASAP.
best,
Richard -
