Hi,
I would like to use to FloBLE by placing it in a static position (to a wall).
Then users will actively beep their NFC on the FloBLE.Then I would like the readings (ID and timestamp) to be sent to the local server (a computer). The local server can be placed between 10 m to 80 m away from the FloBLE(s).
Does anyone have any experiences or recommendations to which hardware I should utilize.
How do I bridge the gap between FloBLE and a server.Best regards,
MarcusDecember 4, 2017 at 11:47 am #61736Hi Marcus, for connecting with a PC you should try using the http://flomio.com/my-devices service. This is build on our Javascript SDK and runs in the Chrome browser to connect to as many as 6 FloBLE Plus devices at a time. Range can vary based on the PC you’re using and the obstructions that may be present in your deployment environment. I would estimate that you should get at least 30 m line of sight range between PC server and FloBLE(s). To get more range than that would require hardware changes.

Thank you 🙂
So what I am interested in is if anyone has experiences or recommendations to hardware which can bridge the gap between the FloBLE and the computer if there is a longer distance than 30m between the pc and the reader?
Is there maybe another device which can be placed somewhere in between and route the signal forwards?

MarcusDecember 6, 2017 at 6:12 am #61778Hi Marcus, because of the security model designed into the reader to avoid MITM attacks it’s very unlikely a BLE repeater would work for the FloBLE. What you may be able to do is have an edge device control the FloBLE within a 30m range and then retransmit APDU exchanges via websocket or mqtt messages over WiFi or Ethernet. This is much more achievable and something we may be able to help you with.
For mission critical customer we charge Flomio Service hours to prioritize their needs. Otherwise, you can continue to post for free support via the Forums.
