FloVAS IoT : NFC Pass Scan Terminal

This IoT device is an Apple VAS and Google SmartTap scanner and host computer (RaspberryPi Zero W). It includes all of the features necessary to enable automatic pass selection and decryption but also can be managed remotely from the cloud. It’s compact size, tamper proof design and onboard 2500mAH battery make this product fit for standalone and unattended use. Applications include self-serve vending or rental systems like lockers, laundry machines, scooters, and even last mile delivery robots.

The device has a switch to toggle between Power/Charging and Ethernet Gadget mode. When connected via USB in Ethernet Gadget mode, the terminal is discoverable with Bonjour/Avahi under then name scanterminal.local. We provide you with a sandboxed account on the RaspberryPi Zero W so you can receive callbacks from the VAS process. You can then run your business logic on device and toggle GPIOs to actuate locks, motors, lights, etc. The tamper proof shield protects the encrypted file system from bad actors since it prevents SDcard access.

To issue Apple and Google passes without any programming try out getfastpass.com. If you’re a developer and want a more customizable solution, checkout passninja.com. Include your passType identifier in your order details and we’ll make sure to setup your scanners for you. And don’t worry, you can always change these provider parameters yourself if you need. Any Windows/Mac/Linux computer is supported and reconfiguration is a simple process of editing a text file.
