The SmartBag is a shopping bag capable of detecting merchandise placed inside it. Built as a 2 part system, the SmartBag tote and reader module are easy to separate. This allows consumers to purchase totes of their own and avoid the need to re-bagging their purchases at the store. The reader module slips into the bottom sleeve of the SmartBag and the customer taps their smartphone on it to pair. This activates Flomio’s white label checkout application to simulate a self-service purchase experience. After payment is successful, the loss prevention tags are deactivated, the customer slips out the reader module and drops it in a charging station on their way out. The SmartBag has a battery life of about 12hrs and connects to the local WiFi network to fetch product data from the web.
