Kickstarter: FloJack’s are Shipping
I wanted to send out a quick update to our earliest supporters. We’ve overcome the most critical roadblocks and are finally shipping FloJacks. We were hung up with a high current drain issue that was killing our battery life as well as an enclosure defect that wasn’t securing the battery door in place. Also, support for the newest iOS devices (ones with lightning connector) was giving us trouble since this hardware is substantially different than previous models. We were able to fix a lot of these issues and are happy enough with the performance of the FloJack to start shipping them to the most eager 100 customers.
These will ship with an SLA-printed translucent back and a sticker to secure the battery door in place. Furthermore, the battery performance is about 4 times more than previously estimated in the FloJack SpecSheet v1.0 so we still have more work to do there. Nonetheless, we estimate that the typical battery life will last over 3 months or 5000 scans per coin cell.
We will be shipping the first units to the most vocal of our community. If you want to be on the short list, make sure to get in touch. Otherwise, we’ll follow with the the first Kickstarter backers. We’re averaging about 15 mins to assemble and quality check each unit so it may take well over a week to get through everything. After we get done with Kickstarter, we will start to process our pre-order flomio.com customers.
It’s been a long time coming. Our team is excited to see what our users do with the FloJack. We’re incredibly stretched thin in time and resources so we apologize if we are unable to get to all the emails. Please check out our Forum in case any of your questions have already been answered. The promise of NFC continues to drive our commitment to bridging the digital and physical with ease. Despite Apple, we’re glad finally welcome iOS users to the NFC Party.

Sounds like a prototype solution?
@Florin… Aside from the SLA back and sticker the units are full production quality and very robust. The translucent SLA material is actually a benefit because it allows for the LED light to shine through better than the ABS plastic. These units are performing awesome and carry the vintage one-of-a-kind feel to them. We have plenty of backers eager to get these in hand so I don’t foresee it being an issue. In any event, we will swap out the units for people that rather full production cases that will be arriving from the factory tomorrow.
